Pill Boxes
You may not think about having pill boxes when you are at a younger age, or if you only take one type of medication. However, when you age, you may find that you need to take more than one type of medication, and that can be confusing. It is always an assumption that you can remember when to take your meds and how much you need, but life does not always work that way. I know that though I am young, I have a hard time remember small things like that, and if I were on medications, I would need some help remembering how and when to take them.
My mom used to use pill boxes, and she did so because she had a bad back, and was on at least three different medications to help with the pain, and also with her arthritis. Though she carefully wrote down everything she took, many details would slip her mind, and she would forget to take what she needed at times. When she started using pill boxes, she rarely forgot what she was supposed to take because she only had to think about it once a week. Another advantage to this was that we could see what she was taking as well.
The great thing about pill boxes is that you can lay your mediation out for the entire week in one sitting. You can then be sure your mediations are up safe and you will also know if you have to get a refill any time soon. You can get these pill boxes with the days of the week on them, and that can be very helpful to anyone who may take something that makes their mind a bit fuzzy. Some come with small compartments for each day, and those are good if pills should not be sitting next to each other.
Pill boxes are also a great idea for the elderly when you know you can’t always be there to be sure they are taking their pills on time. Though there may be nothing you can do to make them take pills they think they have no need for, many don’t take them simply because they forget or thought they had already taken them. When you have everything for the week laid out in pill boxes, they can tell if they have taken their medications or not, and they know they are getting the right stuff.
Summary
Pill boxes are very handy for keeping all medication in one place as well as separated from each other. They typically hold medication for up to a week at a time allowing family members to help keep medicines organized and to prevent accidents from taking too much of any one type. They are very affordable and are a must have for people who have a hard time keeping up with doses.
